April is recognized as Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Month. It is a time to raise awareness about child sexual abuse and human trafficking to educate communities on how to prevent it. The goal is to provide members of the community with the knowledge and tools they need to prevent, recognize, and react responsibly to child sexual abuse, which is said to be the number one childhood trauma of child sexual exploitation. The Creating Safer neighborhoods symposium promotes strategies and activities that increases awareness, provide education, and encourage individuals to take action.
